The coming Christmas season is bound to see the introduction of many new and innovative toys for children that will be on all the lists of top toys. There are bound to be a few toys on that list, however, that will be carry overs from the 2010 season. There are certain toys that have properties about them which give them very favorable odds of maintaining their popularity for another year or more.
One of these properties that favors longevity is the ability for the toy line to constantly change and add new features. An example of a product like this is the popular Lalaloopsy line of dolls, which became very scarce over the holiday season of 2010. New Lalaloopsy characters have been coming out at a fast pace throughout the first few months of 2011, and it seems likely that this is going to continue for the remainder of the year. New characters like Sahara Mirage and Patch Treasure Chest, as well as accessories such as pencil toppers and fashion packs are keeping demand high, and Lalaloopsy fans may see another holiday season where the dolls are once again in short supply.
Another very creative product line is the Lego Star Wars collection. Both the Lego and the Star Wars brand are extremely popular on their own. Combined together, the ability of Lego blocks to combine into an infinite array of possibilities allows this product line to expand itself indefinitely, so there’s little need for fans to become bored with their options. New products in this line are bound to be as lucrative over the coming holiday season as they were in 2010.
Another property that allows for continued popularity is merely the fact of a product being so widely used and so innovative that the strength of the brand carries its popularity forward into the future. One such product is the Xbox 360 gaming console system from Microsoft. Though this gaming system has always been a popular option, it is currently poised to put forth an extremely competitive showing in the popularity department. Sony’s troubles with data security help to make Microsoft seem like a much more viable alternative, and analysts believe that the Xbox Kinect Sensor controller has pretty strongly eclipsed Nintendo’s popular motion sensitive Wii controller system.
Handheld game systems for very young children are bound to maintain a good deal of popularity as well. Two examples of this are the LeapFrog Leapster Explorer, and the Fisher Price iXL Learning System. Both of these systems are very well built electronic devices that allow children to learn and play with a variety of popular cartridges available in order to expand their options. With the available option of new cartridges, and the built in possibilities for fun and learning, these hand held systems are bound to remain popular amongst both parents and children.
